Mayor's Conservation Corps (MCC)

MCC is the largest green jobs training program for youth in the nation. Part of the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program, MCC engages District youth from the ages of 14-21 in developing the skills and attitudes needed to successfully compete in today's green job labor market. We provide young people with career exposure and academic enrichment opportunities to allow them to consistently develop the skills and talents necessary to succeed in the workplace.

Supervisor Hiring
Seeking a rewarding opportunity! Consider joining the District Department of the Environment in canvassing the District to rebuild neighborhoods, clean and create green communities while engaging and mentoring young people from around the District to become the next generation of conservationists, community leaders and land stewards. If you are interested in making a difference in the DC community, then the Mayor's Conservation Corps (MCC) is the place for you! In 2009, the MCC supervisors and team leaders led groups of youth throughout the city removing trash, graffiti, and invasive plants, through hard work, dedication, positive energy and a lot of fun our staff and program youth transformed many areas of the District into greener, cleaner and safer areas for all residents and visitors to the District to enjoy. Below is a quick glimpse of some of the projects accomplished in 2009:
  • Collected over 10,000 pounds of trash at DC General and the surrounding area
  • Created community gardens at Hine Elementary School
  • Removed graffiti abatement from Merritt Business Center
  • Installed storm drain markers throughout the District
The MCC program is an excellent way for those interested in the environment and conservation fields to gain valuable field level work and leadership experience while making a difference in young people's lives. If you are interested in having a summer experience that will change your life - join us this summer and apply today.
